As for a keel, why not use daggerboards on the side of the boat? Same way they use daggerboards for sailing a canoe.

We just got back from 3 months on the road. 32' TT with 2 slides. It worked fine for us. Storage was a little short, especially outside storage since we only have 1 small exterior bin. The two things that we decided we really need to fix is: 1) get a generator and 2) get a reliable internet connection. As for the generator, there were some places where we had no 110v service so no microwave and no A/C for sleeping in the middle of August, and some campgrounds have no, or unreliable Wifi. A few days without internet is ok, after a week relatives start to get worried as to what happened to us.

What's the latest on Monaco?
I went in to my local dealer to checkout & drive the Monaco Knight and he said they are dropping Monaco because they're not paying their warranty claims. This is the same dealer & salesman that 4 months ago was telling me how good Monaco was and now he had the opposite opinion. The salesman emphasized the importance of the manufacturer to stand behind their coach. Supposedly Monaco does or did, he's telling me SportCoach does, but from everything I've researched, Tiffin is #1 for supporting their customers. Anyone having any problems with warranty work?

We went from West Yellowstone to the south entrance and on to the Tetons with a 32' TT and had no problems with clearances, grades, etc. It can be very slow when animals are on the road.

I don't see what difference it make whether the floor is structure wood or plywood. It's supposed to support you. It's not intended to provide weather proofing. The rest of the floor assembly is supposed to provide resistance from water coming in from underneath. Leaks are an issue with any construction method and need to be addressed. By the way, the new OSB (similar to the structure wood if not the same) is supposed to be just as resistant to water as plywood and have the same swelling/return to normal characteristics.

I have one (400 watt inverter from Walmart) it runs my cell phone charger (the 110v one that came with the phone) and keeps my laptop battery charged up since I use the laptop as my GPS device. And that is all! Even then the inverter gets warm and has to run it's fan to keep cool. Just remember they are cheap units and I don't recommend running them at max load. After 3 months the fan bearings are shot and it makes a lot of racket when it's on, not sure of the condition of the internal electronics but seems to still work OK.

I had a dealer try to do the same. Wanted to sell me a 1500, but was calling it a 3/4 ton. They only had 1500s on the lot and refused to order the truck I wanted. Went across the street and ordered one. (I found out the reason very few 2500s (F250s) are in stock in my area is because buyers of 2500s have very specific desires and will not budge on what they want so it has to be ordered.)

I have not stayed at Scenic View so I can't really comment on how the two compare. The writeup on Happy Hills is under Nelsonville (pg 1008 in the 2008 TL directory). I use campgrounds as a place to spend the night and spend the day elsewhere sight seeing or whatever. But it provided more than I expected and I would go there again.
The fall is a nice time of year.
I was there too many years ago to count when the dogwoods were in bloom - I will never forget that.

I was at Happy Hills a couple of weeks ago - what would you like to know? It has campsites that are in the woods or in a meadow. Has campfire rings at most sites. They played a movie (I am Legend) on 1 night, I think it was Saturday. Has Wifi near the pavillion.

I must be in a different world. I can't speak for the federal or state campgrounds, we're mostly private campgrounds and some city & county parks. I'm in the Black Hills now at the "Resort at Palmer's Gulch" also called "KOA at Hill City". It is Sunday morning (6/22/2008) and there are lots of empty spaces. The non-resort type campgrounds have a higher percentage of vacancies - even to the point of negotiating camping fees (i.e. extra person fee is waived). This has been my experience in my travels over the last month. Only Cherry Hill in DC over the Memorial Day weekend with the Rolling thunder was close to capacity and we did see a few empty sites there as well (may have been reserved with a no-show). We're traveling with no reservations and have not had a problem. HOWEVER, I would still get a reservation over the major holiday weekends - I have one for the 4th.

We were up at Sault Saint Marie at the Aune-Osbourne campground on 6/17. I'd guess they were at 1/2 to 2/3 full and were more full than most campgrounds we've stayed at in the last month, (except for Memorial day weekend). The Soo Locks campground up there was not full either - don't know about the others. We are traveling without reservations (except for Memorial day and July 4th weekends) and have not had a problem. Some of the lesser used campgrounds are also negotiating fees to get you to stay (I.e. waiving the "extra person" fee). Across the country so far in the last month the lesser used campgrounds seem to be about 20% full and resort types are about 75% full.

I have a fireplace in mine - won't have another. Granted it does put out heat and does look nice, but I can't have it and the furnace on at the same time. I'll go with Bumpyroad's solution next time.

Time is more the factor, like earlier posts 6 to 7 hours is good. It generally equals about 350 and I try hard to stay under 500, but there are always exceptions.

Happy Hills is a reasonably nice campground as well.
Also, this is the first time I've seen Hocking Hills mentioned anywhere outside of Ohio and if you check license plates in the parking lot there will only be at most 1 non-Ohio plate. That area is the best kept secret in Ohio. (And I'm not telling where it is.)

If you are at the Elkhart Campground the office has a list of plant tours and times as well as other things to see and do (also list of the RV surplus dealers). I recommend the morning plant tour if they have one so you can see stuff being assembled by the workers. The afternoon tour starts just before quitting time. I thought the Monaco tour was good and the guides were quite knowledgable. (We went on the Monaco tour more than once and found it to be tailored somewhat to what the people were interested in.) For all tours the factory had one of every kind of coach they made there availabe for viewing.

There's a county park just down the road from the KOA although I've not been to it for a few years. At the time you could camp right next to the lake. They had boat rental, boat ramps, fishing supplies. However, camping on the lake also has draw backs especially when the airboats are running late at night.

If you're after as few ingredients as possible what about using Bisquick and water? I prefer with milk myself and Bisquick can be used to make many one dish meals that are reasonably good.
